As a Qualcomm Cellular Technologies Software Engineer, you will design, standardize, implement, verify, and validate state-of-the-art cellular technologies across a broad set of technology prototypes, standards, specifications, products, or components within a product. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high quality and capability air interface and modem that meet and exceed industry standards and customer requirements.

You will contribute to 5G/6G base-station L1 modem PHY layer SW on Qualcomm’s proprietary CPU and DSP processors for ORAN compliant ODU, ORU SoC products and SCF FAPI specifications.. You would also have an opportunity to lead and contribute to overall software architecture/designs and internal interfaces across different modem sub-systems, external interfaces and end-to-end system integration. It is preferable to have experience with embedded FW design with constrained MIPS and memory, design for test and debug and test-driven development.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    8+ years of experience with computer architecture or embedded systems.

•    4+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

•    1+ year of applicable wireless, semiconductor and/or embedded software industry experience.

• Qualcomm QDSP6 and related scalar and vector DSP processor development experience.
• Familiarity working closely with hardware, 5G NR/LTE protocols
• Required knowledge of C, C++, Python, Real time operating systems, Embedded systems, multi-threaded programming decisions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Leverages expert Wireless WAN Modem Software knowledge to design, standardize, implement, verify, validate, and commercialize Wireless WAN (or cellular) air interface and modem technologies.

•    Designs, optimizes, and implements software for highly critical wireless systems and modems. 

•    Collaborates with high-level stakeholders to develop high quality and high capability air interface and modems with high performance (e.g., capacity, coverage, throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost.

•    Guides cross-functional efforts  to design products and solutions that meet customer requirements and standards. 

•    Owns complete unit-level verification for sub-system, including software performance and quality and oversees the integration of software into platforms and products.

•    Writes detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions for highly complex projects to guide users to implement output; reviews documentation of junior engineers; reviews documentation of experienced engineers.

•    Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents.
•    Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department. 
•    Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions.
•    Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$216,600.00 - $325,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
