Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, visionary Group Director of Product Management to lead the future of Search and Discovery Experiences across Walmart’s digital ecosystem.
Shopping is entering a period of fundamental change. Customers will continue to shop directly, but increasingly they will also discover, evaluate, and purchase products through AI-powered experiences and agents. This leader will define how Walmart wins in that future—creating the next generation of shopping experiences that help customers discover the right products, make decisions with confidence, and build a lasting preference for Walmart.
The role combines long-term vision with near-term execution. You will set the multi-year strategy for AI-enabled shopping and agentic commerce while leading the immediate product roadmap, experimentation agenda, and operating mechanisms needed to deliver customer and business impact today.
As a leader of leaders, you will build and guide a high-performing product organization across Search, Discovery, and emerging shopping experiences. You will partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, Design, Analytics, Advertising, Marketplace, and business leaders to translate an ambitious vision into differentiated experiences at Walmart scale.

What You’ll Do

Define the Future of Shopping and Discovery

  • Set the multi-year vision and strategy for how customers discover, evaluate, and shop for products across Walmart.
  • Define Walmart’s approach to AI-enabled shopping, including how customers shop directly, how agents shop on customers’ behalf, and how Walmart’s experiences evolve in an increasingly agentic ecosystem.
  • Identify the experiences, capabilities, and platform investments that will allow Walmart to lead through an uncertain and rapidly changing shopping landscape.
  • Create a clear point of view on how Search and Discovery should help customers explore the assortment, make confident decisions, and build enduring loyalty to Walmart.
  • Balance long-term bets with immediate customer and business opportunities, translating strategy into a sequenced, actionable roadmap.

Lead Search and Discovery Experiences

Own the strategy and roadmap for customer discovery experiences, including:
  • Search and AI-powered search experiences
  • Product discovery, inspiration, and exploration journeys
  • Experiences that help customers compare products and make decisions with confidence
  • Personalized and context-aware discovery across Walmart surfaces
  • Emerging conversational, multimodal, and agent-enabled shopping experiences
  • Search and Discovery quality, relevance, measurement, and customer experience optimization
Establish a unified approach to discovery that brings together customer intent, relevance, personalization, assortment exploration, and business outcomes.

Build a Rigorous Experimentation and Learning Engine

  • Establish a high-quality experimentation roadmap to test, learn, and iterate quickly on hypotheses about the future of shopping.
  • Define clear customer, business, and long-term value measures for new experiences—not only immediate conversion or GMV.
  • Partner with Data Science and Analytics to build strong evaluation frameworks, instrumentation, and decision-quality metrics.
  • Create a culture that uses evidence to prove or disprove hypotheses, makes thoughtful tradeoffs, and scales winning experiences with speed.
  • Ensure the organization can learn across platforms, markets, and customer segments while maintaining a high bar for customer experience.

Build and Lead a High-Performing Organization

  • Lead and develop a team of ambitious product leaders across multiple levels.
  • Set clear direction, decision rights, and operating mechanisms that enable the organization to execute with focus in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Build deep product, technical, and strategic capabilities across the team.
  • Foster a culture of customer obsession, innovation, analytical rigor, accountability, and inclusive leadership.
  • Inspire teams through change, providing clarity and momentum even when the path forward is not yet fully defined.

Influence Across the Enterprise

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, Design, Analytics, Advertising, Marketplace, Merchandising, and other business teams to bring the strategy to life.
  • Align stakeholders across Walmart U.S., International, Sam’s Club, and platform organizations around a cohesive vision for Search and Discovery.
  • Navigate complex tradeoffs among customer needs, business priorities, technical feasibility, and speed to market.
  • Communicate strategy, progress, investment needs, and decisions clearly to senior executives and diverse stakeholders.
  • Build trust and alignment across multiple business owners and technical leaders while maintaining a relentless focus on customer outcomes.

Organizational Scope

This leader will oversee product organizations responsible for:
  • Search Experiences: Search strategy, AI-powered search, relevance, quality, and future search interactions.
  • Discovery Experiences: Product exploration, inspiration, evaluation, and confidence-building experiences across the shopping journey.
  • AI-Enabled and Agentic Shopping: New experiences and capabilities that prepare Walmart to lead as customers and agents increasingly shop in new ways.
  • Experimentation and Optimization: Experimentation strategy, measurement frameworks, and the systems that continuously improve customer discovery and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years of product management experience, including substantial experience leading leaders and complex product portfolios at scale.
  • Experience building consumer products in Search, Discovery, eCommerce, marketplaces, personalization, AI-powered experiences, or related domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute a bold multi-year product vision while delivering measurable near-term business and customer impact.
  • Strong understanding of experimentation, product analytics, customer behavior, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to partner effectively with highly technical teams and translate emerging technology into compelling customer experiences.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder-management skills, with a track record of driving alignment across complex organizations.
  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and inspire high-performing product talent.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, setting direction amid change, and making clear decisions with incomplete information.

Success Measures

  • A clear, differentiated strategy for AI-enabled and agentic shopping that positions Walmart to lead the future of commerce.
  • Meaningful improvement in how customers discover products, evaluate choices, and shop with confidence.
  • Strong customer and business outcomes across engagement, conversion, repeat shopping, satisfaction, and long-term customer value.
  • A rigorous experimentation engine that accelerates learning and informs investment decisions.
  • Delivery of key roadmap commitments and scalable platforms that support future innovation.
  • A high-performing, inspired organization with strong leadership bench strength.
  • Executive and cross-functional confidence in the team’s vision, operating model, and ability to execute.
