Database Administrator — Data Operations Support

About the Opportunity

SteerBridge is seeking three Mid-Level Database Administrators to support USMC aviation maintenance data systems within DoD and GovCloud environments.

Reporting to the Senior Database Administrator, you will provide frontline production support for Oracle, Sybase ASE, and AWS data pipeline systems. You will monitor system health, investigate alerts and tickets, resolve routine incidents, and escalate complex issues. This role offers hands-on experience across database administration, cloud data operations, and application troubleshooting while contributing to a 24/7 support team.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in a rotating 24/7 support schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.

• Monitor production Oracle and Sybase ASE databases, AWS data pipelines, and related services.

• Triage incoming tickets and alerts, investigate routine issues, and restore service within established response and resolution targets.

• Escalate complex or high-severity incidents to the Senior DBA using documented procedures.

• Perform routine database administration, including monitoring, patching, backups, and user and access provisioning.

• Execute health checks and routine remediation for AWS Glue jobs, Amazon RDS instances, Amazon Redshift clusters, and services running on Amazon ECS and AWS Fargate.

• Troubleshoot production application issues, authentication and login problems, and basic NGINX web server issues.

• Record incident details, findings, and resolution steps to support clear handoffs between shifts.

• Maintain and improve runbooks and standard operating procedures based on recurring issues.

Required Qualifications

• 2–4 years of database administration or database operations support experience, with exposure to Oracle and/or Sybase ASE.

• Willingness and ability to participate in a rotating 24/7 support schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Hands-on exposure to at least one of the following AWS services: Glue, RDS, Redshift, ECS, or Fargate.

• Working SQL scripting skills and familiarity with Linux/Unix.

• Experience troubleshooting production applications, including investigating and escalating issues identified through user reports or system alerts.

• Experience troubleshooting authentication and login issues involving Keycloak and the program’s AWS access services, along with basic NGINX troubleshooting.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to both Oracle and Sybase ASE.

• Experience working in a network operations center, help desk, or 24/7 operations support environment.

• Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or similar ticketing systems and ITIL-based incident management.

• Familiarity with DoD, federal, or GovCloud data environments.

• Experience administering Keycloak for identity and access management.

Work Environment and Schedule

These positions support a Vienna, VA-based program, with onsite or hybrid attendance determined by program requirements. Participation in a rotating 24/7 support schedule is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Specific shift hours and rotation details will be discussed during the interview process.
