Role summary:
The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML integration, and software design patterns to build resilient, modular solutions. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with business objectives and engineering excellence. The engineer applies data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices to enhance productivity and deliver high-quality software solutions that support Walmart’s strategic goals.
About the team:
The Marketplace Engineering team develops and maintains core platforms that support Walmart’s extensive product range and competitive pricing. This team manages the seller lifecycle, monitors customer interactions, and delivers risk features to detect and mitigate marketplace risks. Collaborating with partner platform teams, they ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement of seller and customer experiences on walmart.com. Utilizing cloud-native architecture, software design patterns, and data-driven decision-making, the team builds scalable, resilient solutions that drive operational excellence and innovation across the marketplace ecosystem. 
What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and priorities.
• Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility, quality, and alignment with architectural standards.
• Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features using multiple programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
• Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
• Ability to mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting engineering excellence.
• Skilled in data-driven decision making and requirements analysis to translate complex problems into actionable technical solutions.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
