What you'll do...
Role summary:Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end solutions supporting Supply Chain Labor Optimization. This role translates complex business needs into scalable technical solutions across data, analytics, and application development. Responsibilities include understanding operational processes, defining technical approaches, developing and implementing solutions, and ensuring production stability. The role partners closely with Operations, Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering while maintaining strong ownership from problem definition through delivery. Success requires technical depth, business understanding, independent problem-solving, and a focus on simplifying processes, automating manual work, and continuously improving the Labor Optimization platform.
About the team:
The Labor Optimization team builds the technology, data, and analytics solutions that power labor planning across Walmart Supply Chain. Our team brings together data science, data engineering, analytics, and software engineering to solve complex operational problems at scale. We are modernizing legacy processes into a unified platform that improves how labor is planned, optimized, and executed across the network. We operate as an end-to-end technology team, partnering closely with Operations and Product while maintaining ownership from problem definition and architecture through development, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
What you'll do:
- Design and deliver scalable solutions that support Labor Optimization across Walmart Supply Chain.
- Translate complex business and operational problems into effective technical solutions.
- Build across data, analytics, optimization, and application layers as needed.
- Partner with Operations, Product, Data Science, and Engineering to deliver end-to-end capabilities.
- Own solutions from initial problem definition through development, deployment, and production support.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve existing ways of working.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across systems, data, and business processes.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of the Labor Optimization platform.
- Operate with autonomy, ownership, and a strong focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
What you'll bring:
- Strong foundation in applied mathematics, statistics, optimization, and quantitative problem-solving.
- Experience developing mathematical models to solve complex operational and business problems.
- Knowledge of operations research techniques, including linear/integer programming, forecasting, simulation, and constraint optimization.
- Strong Python and SQL skills with experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into mathematical formulations and scalable solutions.
- Experience evaluating model performance, assumptions, tradeoffs, and sensitivity to changing inputs.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to explain complex quantitative concepts to non-technical partners.
- A practical mindset focused on applying modeling and optimization techniques to real-world operational decisions.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
