As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving full lifecycle software development with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. About the team:
Walmart’s Advertising Technology group connects supplier brands with retail shoppers at an unmatched scale. This team of engineers and data scientists works agilely to solve complex, high-impact challenges, handling billions of ad requests monthly through high-performance ad servers. They develop advanced data systems that ingest, analyze, and optimize vast user activity and transaction data using machine learning and optimization algorithms. The Sponsored Search Ad Server engineering team focuses on building next-generation omni-advertising platforms, driving architecture, technology choices, and alignment across Walmart Connect to deliver scalable, high-value solutions.

What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap priorities.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate quality and alignment with architectural standards.
• Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components to enhance automation and reasoning.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement through data-driven practices, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong software development skills across the full lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
• Experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML integration using languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
• Ability to conduct system design reviews and apply software design patterns to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions for long-term sustainability.
• Proficient in data-driven decision making, problem solving, and continuous improvement practices.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Bellevue, Washington US-11663: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
