Role summary:
The Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML integration, and software design patterns to build resilient, modular solutions. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with business objectives and engineering excellence. The engineer will engage with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable requirements, continuously improving processes and tools to support innovation and operational success.

About the team:
The team manages the data pipeline framework supporting Search and Personalization at Walmart. They develop and maintain systems that collect user interaction signals, catalog data, and other key sources, transforming these into high-quality features and datasets. These datasets power machine learning models that improve search relevance and deliver personalized shopping experiences at scale. The team builds robust, scalable solutions using advanced data engineering and cloud-native architecture. Collaboration and technical excellence drive innovation and impactful results in this dynamic environment.

What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and machine learning frameworks aligned with roadmap priorities.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Design and review software solutions to ensure quality, security, and alignment with architectural standards.
• Integrate AI/ML components to build intelligent automation features using multiple programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Engage stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and measurable outcomes.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns to create secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation features using languages such as Python, Java
• Skilled in data-driven decision making to define success metrics and optimize engineering processes.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews to ensure quality and alignment with architectural standards.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
