Special Topics: Welding Design, Fabrication and Quality ControlThis course complies with international codes and standards (AWS, ASME, CSA, ISO) and provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of welding engineering, with emphasis on both the theoretical and practical aspects of joining technologies. Intro to welding processes (arc welding, resistance welding, solid-state welding, laser/beam welding, and advanced automated systems) and the influence of the process parameters on weld design. Design considerations for strength of welded joints under static or cyclical loading, weldability of different engineering materials, weld quality assurance, inspection methods, and nondestructive testing (NDT). This course fulfils the educational requirements for Weld Engineer and Inspector qualification as defined by Standards CSA W47.1 and CSA W178.2 and recognized by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) in Canada.

- PhD in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong background in mechanical engineering and active research in the subject
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed from one of Canada’s engineering regulators
