Winter 2027 Course Lecturer Position

The Department of Philosophy is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach in Winter 2027. Please include your Cover Letter and Curriculum Vitae and if applicable a copy of your Study/Work Permit. A brief course outline is optional.

PHIL 419-001 Epistemology (3 Credits - CAP 54)
A discussion of central topics in the theory of knowledge. The questions addressed in the course may include: What is knowledge? Do we have any knowledge? What is the relation between knowledge and belief? When is belief justified? Is all knowledge conscious knowledge.

 

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

• Applicants must have completed a PhD degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program in Philosophy;
• Applicants must provide evidence of highly effective teaching ability as a result of having successfully taught or worked as a teaching assistant in a similar course;
• Applicants must have research specialization or competence in epistemology, as illustrated in the course description. This may be demonstrated in one of the following ways: (i) refereed publications and/or conference presentations in the field; (ii) thesis level research on one of more topics in the field; (iii) prior experience successfully teaching this or a closely related course in the field ; or (iv) minimally, at least two graduate-level courses on topics in the field.

Tuesday and Thursday 11:35 am-12:55 pm, January 5, 2027 – April 14, 2027. Location: BIRKS 203.

Salary: $ 11,824 per course.
