About the role

Join Our Team as a Strategic Coordinator!

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, Communications and Business Intelligence, the Strategic Coordinator plays a vital role in strategy development, issues management, and the execution of complex, enterprise-wide initiatives. As a central force within the Branch Manager’s Office, you will drive critical branch operations—including strategic planning, budget oversight, project management, and performance evaluation—while serving as the primary lead for branch leadership communications.

In this high-visibility role, you will navigate sensitive issues, review key briefings and Council reports, and collaborate across organizational boundaries to deliver effective, long-term solutions. We are seeking a proactive professional with strong political acuity and critical thinking skills who can seamlessly balance competing priorities and maintain high standards across the organization.

What will you do?

  • Drive long-term strategic planning, develop branch business plans, and lead complex, cross-functional projects from conceptualization through execution and evaluation
  • Identify emerging risks and strategic issues, perform environmental scans, and provide timely advice and recommendations to the Branch Manager and Senior Leadership
  • Review, edit, and oversee the preparation of Council, Committee, and ELT reports, briefings, and presentations to ensure completeness, quality, and political acuity
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the corporation and other interested parties to foster alignment and program integration
  • Play an integral role in annual and long-range budget forecasting, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring branch alignment with corporate goals
  • Conduct research and analysis to make actionable recommendations that improve operational efficiency, optimize branch processes, and establish guidelines
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Branch Manager and Leadership Team, handling confidential, ad-hoc information requests, sensitive assignments, and strategic consultations
  • Act as the principal Branch representative on city-wide committees, municipal partnerships, and high-level corporate initiatives
  • Model corporate values and cultural commitments, supporting an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing workplace environment
  • Support employee development and engagement initiatives, ensuring teams are equipped, empowered, and collaboratively solving problems across branch lines
  • Lead a team of positions focused on supporting the branch priorities
  • Education in Commerce, Public Administration or Social Sciences (Political Science, Sociology) or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning and management

Skills required for success:

  • Strategic & Political Acuity: High political acumen with a proven ability to analyze sensitive issues, exercise sound judgment, and provide strategic advice to senior leadership in complex or ambiguous environments
  • Planning & Project Execution: Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end strategic planning, project management, change management, and business process improvement to drive innovation and organizational efficiency
  • Executive Communication & Governance: Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills tailored for high-level consultations, municipal governance, report writing, and engaging key decision-makers
  • Adaptability & High Performance: Strong capacity to manage competing priorities, adapt quickly in fast-paced, high-volume settings, and work proactively across diverse domains, including finance, HR, and digital platforms
  • Alignment with our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies
  • Commitment to embracing a culture of Equity, Diversity, Reconciliation and Inclusion
  • Applicants may be tested
