The Center is a consortium of approximately 260 researchers and physicians across three state universities and three clinical institutions, united by a vision to prevent and cure cancer while serving as a global model for patient care, interdisciplinary research, and training.

The Director of Finance & Administration has primary responsibility for the Center’s administrative and financial functions. As a member of the senior leadership team, the ADA/DFA acts on behalf of the Director when necessary.

The DFA oversees the Center’s daily administrative and financial operations and provides leadership that advances collaboration with academic and healthcare partners. The Center employs approximately 280 technical and administrative staff, supports over 300 full and mentored faculty members, and provides partial financial support for approximately 30 faculty members who lead programs and manage resources across the Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the Center’s administrative and financial operations, including financial management; grants and contracts administration; human resources; clinical research operations, including OCRST and the Cancer Clinical Trials Office; internal information technology; space management; communications and public relations; and general administration.

  • Lead and develop a management team with expertise in finance, research administration, clinical research, information technology, and communications.

  • Oversee NCI CCSG activities, including preparation and submission of the application.

  • Lead the Center’s strategic planning, including development, revision, implementation, and monitoring of the strategic plan.

  • Oversee the management of Center Shared Resources, including prioritization, staffing, financial performance, and user satisfaction.

  • Support the Center’s community outreach and engagement initiatives and its cancer research training and education efforts.

  • Manage philanthropic funds and partner with the Advancement Office on fundraising, outreach, and donor relations.

  • Represent the Center before institutional leaders, advisory bodies, state and federal government entities, external public and private organizations, fundraising organizations, and advocacy groups.

  • Represent the Center on relevant boards and committees of member organizations, including ACCA, NCCN, ORIEN, and AACI.

  • Facilitate collaboration within the Center, across partner institutions, and with external organizations.

  • Participate, as appropriate or required, in School of Medicine and campus planning and operational management activities.
