Supervisor Dockbuilder

Job Description

Under general direction, reporting directly to the Director of Ferry Operations, supervises the work of a group of Dockbuilders and other workers, including but not limited to Crane Operators, Tractor Operators, and Oilers, involved in the construction, maintenance and repair of the waterfront structures at the Staten Island Ferry; performs related work.

EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL TASKS:

Supervises the Dockbuilding Unit of the Staten Island Ferry. Assigns, directs, and inspects the work of Dockbuilders, pile driver crews and derrick crews in the construction, maintenance and repair of wharves, ferry racks, piers, docks (both timber and concrete), bulkheads, platforms, and other waterfront structures. Supervises operations involved in pile driving, shoring, demolition, dredging, and associated activities. Enforces safety precautions at work sites to safeguard life and property. Prepares requisitions for materials and equipment. Keeps records and makes reports.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Maximo, CityTime, and other computer programs.

Qualifications

One (1) year of permanent service in the title of Dockbuilder.
