Senior Technical Lead for Contaminated Sites

Job Description

We seek a strong Environmental Technical Lead to join our Site Assessment and Remediation team in Halifax, NS. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and meaningful projects across the energy, mining, industrial, municipal, provincial, and federal sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and sets clear technical direction in combination with clear communication and strategic thinking across environmental assessments and remediation projects.

• Serve as the primary client liaison, ensuring strong relationships and high client satisfaction.

• Oversee project technical performance, helping the project team deliver successful outcomes while guiding technical decisions and developing team members.

• Communicate regularly with regulators, clients, and internal technical teams.

• Communicates risks, challenges, and recommendations clearly.

• Provide senior review on technical reports and regulatory submittals.

• Lead by example and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

• Exhibit personal safety leadership in all aspects of project execution.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

• Professional designation (P.Eng. or similar) in Nova Scotia. Qualified Professional for ESA in Nova Scotia.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental remediation and/or reclamation projects.

• Proven experience providing technical oversight on contaminated site projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant industry experience.

• Strong understanding of CCME and Atlantic RBCA environmental regulations and guidelines.

• Experience with regulatory applications and documentation in Nova Scotia.

• Professional designation (P.Eng. or similar) in other Provinces/Territories across Canada.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and client management abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.

• Willingness to adopt and learn digital tools, including AI-based solutions.

• Positive, proactive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
