The Sr. Financial Analyst plays a key role in providing financial and operational support to Commercial Banking and Canadian Banking Finance. The position contributes to strategic decision-making, business performance management, and the integrity of financial results, systems, and reporting through financial planning, forecasting, analysis, expense management, and performance reporting.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

• Support the development of annual profit plans, forecasts, and financial reporting for the full P&L.
• Monitor business line performance and provide accurate forecasts by analyzing Balance Sheet and P&L trends.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial analysis and reporting of business line results.
• Analyze financial performance, identify key drivers and variances, and provide insights, recommendations, and commentary to business and finance leaders.
• Develop and maintain financial models, reporting packages, dashboards, and management reports to support planning, tracking, and decision-making.
• Produce and analyze reports comparing actual results to plan across volumes, revenue, margins, and expenses.
• Manage, monitor, and report on business line expenses, including support, allocated, and non-interest expenses, to support effective cost control.
• Conduct reasonability reviews, validate financial data, and collaborate with partners to ensure accurate reporting and explanations.
• Monitor complement and expense overruns to help ensure business line targets and budgets are achieved.
• Partner closely with stakeholders across Commercial Banking, Canadian Banking Finance, and support functions to deliver timely and effective financial support.
• Evaluate opportunities to improve efficiencies, maximize benefits, increase revenues, and minimize costs through analysis and process improvements.
• Participate in projects and initiatives while ensuring compliance with Scotiabank policies, controls, and risk management requirements.

• You have experience in a related financial analysis, accounting, or financial management role.
• You have strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and financial reporting.
• You have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• You have experience working with financial systems and reporting tools such as OBI, Hyperion, and Anaplan.
• You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
• You have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
• You have strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial insights clearly to stakeholders.
• You have proven organizational, planning, and process management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables.
• You have experience developing reports, dashboards, and management presentations to support business decision-making.
• You have the ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with business partners across multiple functions.
• You are adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and responsibilities.
• You demonstrate curiosity, energy, accountability, and a strong commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.
