Are you passionate about supporting affordable housing initiatives that strengthen communities across Alberta? The Housing Division is seeking a Grant Advisor to join the Strategic Capital Planning and Programs team.

As a Grant Advisor, you will support the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of capital grant programs throughout the full grant lifecycle. You will provide expert advice to stakeholders, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and contribute to program enhancements that support strategic housing outcomes for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Grants and Reporting this position plays a critical role in the effective delivery of Housing Division capital grant programs that support the development of new affordable housing and the improvement of existing housing stock. These programs contribute directly to the Government of Alberta's housing priorities, the Stronger Foundations strategy, and the Province's Capital Plan.

The job responsibilities include:

Grant Monitoring and Compliance

  • Monitor grant agreements and recipient reporting to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Review submissions, identify risks or issues, and follow up on outstanding reporting obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement of reporting processes, tools, and systems.

Stakeholder Engagement and Program Support

  • Provide guidance on grant agreements, reporting requirements, and program expectations.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with grant recipients and stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare grant agreements and amendments and coordinate reviews with internal and external partners.

Financial Review and Reporting

  • Review financial claims and supporting documentation to confirm eligibility and recommend payments.
  • Provide guidance on eligible expenditures and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor financial and program performance information to support reporting and decision-making.

Strategic and Operational Support

  • Prepare briefing materials, correspondence, and reports for leadership.
  • Identify emerging issues, risks, and opportunities, and provide recommendations.
  • Support housing initiatives, modernization efforts, and operational improvements while fostering strong internal and external partnerships.

Qualifications

Required:
University graduation in business, public administration or a related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:

  • Delivering or administering grant programs and working with municipal, provincial, federal, or other government partners.
  • Knowledge of the housing sector, affordable housing initiatives, and housing-related delivery programs.
  • An understanding of the roles and mandates of key housing stakeholders, including the Alberta Social Housing Corporation (ASHC), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), housing providers, municipalities, industry associations, and partner ministries.
  • Experience in program administration, grant management, project coordination, housing programs, public administration, or a related field.
  • Contracts, budget and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience interpreting legislation, policies, regulations, funding agreements, or program requirements.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and preparing reports, correspondence, and recommendations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience using computer applications, databases, and information management systems.

Notes

There is 1 full-time permanent position available. The office will be located at 44 Capital Boulevard, 10044 – 108 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 3S7.

Hours of work are 8.15am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday with a 36.25-hour work week.
