About the role
About the role
Mod Op is hiring a Director, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A ) to launch and lead a brand-new FP&A capability that will become the strategic heartbeat of our business. Located in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area with a hybrid in-office work schedule, this role reports to the CFO, and will own forecasting, planning, performance reporting, and decision support for a services business with multiple service lines, lender reporting needs, and an active acquisition agenda. This isn't a role where you'll inherit a mature process and keep it running. This is a hands-on build role for a finance leader who can create board- and lender-ready numbers, partner directly with operators, and turn revenue, margin, staffing, pricing, and utilization data into better business decisions.
What you'll do
- Build and own monthly rolling forecasts for net revenue and EBITDA by service line and top clients, tied to NetSuite actuals after each close.
- Lead monthly financial reviews with service-line leaders, covering client margin, pipeline-to-revenue conversion, staffing cost versus forecast, utilization, pricing, and client mix.
- Prepare the financial performance and forecast section of board materials for CFO review.
- Support covenant forecasting and lender reporting in partnership with Accounting and Financial Operations.
- Own annual operating planning, reforecasting, and budget processes, including the first full-cycle budget after hire.
- Build client-level profitability, top-10 client concentration, acquisition models, pro forma covenant tests, and earnout measurement analysis.
- Use AI, automation and code to improve the speed, quality, and repeatability of FP&A analysis.
- Serve as the finance partner to leaders across Client Partnerships, Audience Growth and Performance, Creative, Public Relations, Data and Marketing Automations, Technology, Experiential, and Transformation Consulting.
The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, operator, storyteller, and builder. You enjoy asking tough questions, challenging assumptions, and digging beneath the numbers to understand how the business really works. If you're motivated to create an FP&A function that becomes a trusted decision partner to the CFO, CEO, and service-line leaders, this could be your next big opportunity.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of finance experience, including 3+ years leading FP&A, including forecasting, budgeting, and board reporting.
- Experience building or rebuilding FP&A in a PE-backed or lender-reported company.
- Strong judgment and quality control: you know what a board- or lender-ready number looks like and can explain the assumptions, risks, and conditions that would make it wrong.
- Strategic finance orientation: you turn client, staffing, utilization, pricing, revenue, and margin data into operating decisions rather than only reporting variances.
- Hands-on modeling ability across rolling forecasts, budgets, cash flow, covenant forecasting, client profitability, service-line economics, and scenario analysis.
- Comfort with services-business economics, including net revenue versus gross billings, pass-through costs, utilization, client margin, and project profitability.
- AI-forward working style: you use tools like Claude, plus automation or code, as your core method for building models and analysis.
- Player-coach mindset: willing to personally build the models and cadence in year one while designing the function and team for scale.
- Self-starter who moves fast from a short brief, takes coaching well, and wants to both do the work and lead.
Preferred qualifications
- Marketing, advertising, creative agency, professional services, or consulting finance experience.
- Experience with acquisition integration or M&A modeling.
- Direct (13-week or 26-week) cash flow forecasting experience under lender scrutiny.
- NetSuite experience, including reporting structures, or ERP conversion support.
- Multi-entity U.S. and Canada consolidation experience.
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent finance leadership development.
