Your role as Senior Software Developer, Backend

Reporting to Dylan Cattelan, Manager, Software Developer the mission of the Senior Software Developer, Backend is to design and evolve the scoring, availability, and redistribution systems that turn provider capacity and member demand into fast, reliable appointments at scale.

What you'll be doing

• Building, improving, and operating mission-critical applications and API services
• Working closely with Operations and other non-technical, external stakeholders to build the shared context needed to align on the right solution
• Identifying, refining, and prioritizing work items by business value in collaboration with the product manager
• Writing and participating in the elaboration of technical design documents to align the team on clear solutions
• Writing accurate, readable, testable code and maintainable test suites which set a good example for other developers
• Improving the skills and effectiveness of other developers through code review, documentation, and direct guidance

We'd love to hear from you if you have

• Have 5 years + of meaningful backend experience : services, APIs, distributed systems, and data modelling.
• Feel comfortable designing software and communicating with colleagues about your decisions and tradeoffs.
• Have familiarity with event-driven architectures, or are willing to learn on the job.
• Have familiarity with data synchronization architectures, or are willing to learn on the job.
• Have built or contributed to automation-heavy systems, schedulers, decision engines, or domain workflows involving complex business rules.
• Are comfortable integrating optimization logic (e.g., OR-Tools/CP-SAT) or ML-driven outputs into production backend flows.
• Care deeply about correctness, reliability, and idempotency, especially in systems that modify real-world schedules.
• Are fluent in modern backend tooling: CI/CD, version control, automated tests, observability stacks, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Are comfortable working collaboratively across functions—with data scientists, data developers, DevSecOps, and operations teams.
• Experience with React Native / Front-end frameworks is a plus.

The salary range shown represents the expected range for hiring into this position. At Dialogue, a candidate's placement within this range is determined based on their relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and qualifications.
