About the role

You’re ready to gain the skills and experience needed to grow within your role and advance your career and we have the perfect software engineering opportunity for you.

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

This role is full stack with a heavier emphasis on frontend (React), alongside backend development in Java/Spring Boot and deployment on AWS (as provided).

Job responsibilities

  • Execute creative software solutions across design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine approaches to solve complex problems

  • Build end-to-end solutions leveraging cloud-native, microservices-based architectures and modern engineering practices

  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.

  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

  • Apply domain modeling techniques to structure software for clarity, testability, and evolution

  • Develop secure, high-quality production code; review, debug, and improve code written by others

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring remediation to improve operational stability

  • Promptly investigate and resolve issues and ensure they do not resurface; keep technologies and patterns current

  • Additionally, you will design solutions that avoid single points of failure and support scalable patterns (including zero-downtime releases and optimized data performance where applicable)

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code across the whole Software Development Life Cycle in a large corporate environment

  • Hands-on practical experience in software engineering experience as a full stack developer, with heavy emphasis on modern frontend development

  • Proficiency with modern frontend stacks (JavaScript/TypeScript) and React (Angular acceptable if strong React capability can be demonstrated)

  • Proficient in Java/Spring Boot, with experience applying microservices architecture patterns.

  • Strong working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and preprocessors such as Sass/LESS

  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.

  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.

  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve design and functionality challenges with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams with a passion to build an inclusive and innovative culture

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Exposure to cloud technologies and/or relevant certification (e.g., AWS)
