Software Engineer II- Linux C/C++ systems programming

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, Employee Platforms teams, you will develop, optimize, and maintain Linux system-level software components that require high throughput, low latency, and strong fault tolerance. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role. 

Job Responsibilities

- You will design, implement, and maintain Linux system software in C/C++, prioritizing performance, stability, and recoverability in a critical runtime environment.  
- You will diagnose and resolve complex issues across the stack using advanced debugging and profiling techniques, with a focus on root-cause analysis, regression prevention, and measurable performance improvement.  
- You will contribute to WebKit-based GUI capabilities where needed, ensuring responsive rendering, robust event handling, and clean integration with underlying system services.  
- You will integrate and troubleshoot device connectivity involving common computer peripherals and I/O interfaces, translating device-level requirements and behaviors into reliable software operation and clear operational diagnostics.  
- You will apply Agile SDLC practices, including iterative delivery, code review, automated testing, and continuous integration habits aligned to team standards.  
- You will maintain strong tooling and automation habits to improve code quality and delivery speed, while keeping solutions maintainable, testable, and production-ready.  
- You will collaborate across engineering, QA, product, and adjacent platform teams to align requirements, surface risks early, and deliver predictable outcomes.

-Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages 
• Working knowledge of C/C++ in Linux environment
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
• Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Knowledge of GoLang is a plus
