Manager, Cloud Infrastructure

The Opportunity:

The Operations and Infrastructure Branch of the Information Technology (IT) Division has a great opportunity for an experienced and strategic leader with strong communication skills for the permanent full-time position of Cloud Infrastructure Manager in Regina.  

Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure Management, the Cloud Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the business and data architecture of every program or service offering across the Government of Saskatchewan that has been either migrated or developed outright in the cloud. Some of the data associated with these systems is highly sensitive and requires additional controls and protection.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position is obtained through a bachelor’s degree, diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience. You will have demonstrable experience in driving organizational change and have highly developed influencing, communications, and stakeholder management skills to facilitate solutions to complex opportunities.

Your Responsibilities will include: 

• Planning and overseeing the implementation of reliable, cost effective and high-performance Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT) cloud computing platforms (such as Microsoft’s Azure) in a multi-vendor environment;
• Ensuring that internal processes are developed, documented, and capable of providing effective and efficient support for diverse clients (end users, application developers, software as a service vendor, etc.);
• Managing and setting priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all cloud and enterprise network and shared Infrastructure;
• Managing migration strategies, assessing workloads, and providing oversight and expertise to cloud migration projects; 
• Managing costs and ensuring cost-recovery mechanisms are created to ensure client ministries are covering the costs of cloud resource consumption; 
• Ensuring all usage of cloud environments meets governance standards and contributing to improving standards for security and operational efficiency as well as supporting client business processes, legislation, and policy directives; and
• Researching and educating senior management on emerging IM/IT-enabled business transformation elements as they pertain to cloud computing.

• Experience with Cloud Services and Cloud Service Providers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Google, Oracle, etc
