Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

The Opportunity:

The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) is seeking a highly motivated, innovative individual with strong technical skills for a permanent Senior Business Intelligence Analyst position in the Business Systems unit. Reporting to the Director of Business Systems, this role supports SATCC’s data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric and MyATC (ServiceNow), and helps ensure SATCC’s data platforms provide reliable information for reporting, analysis, and business decision-making.

Data Platform Architecture and Integration

• Design, support, and optimize Microsoft Fabric data architecture, integrations, semantic models, dashboards, and reporting solutions.

• Assess the impacts of system changes between MyATC and Microsoft Fabric, identify integration risks, and recommend mitigation strategies to support successful system changes.

Data Governance and Quality

• Develop and support data governance practices, including standards, taxonomies, methodologies, data quality, and stewardship. 
• Work with business units to improve data management, cleansing, reconciliation, and reporting practices.

Reporting, analytics, and business support

• Respond to scheduled and ad hoc reporting requests by interpreting requirements, retrieving and analyzing data, and developing queries, reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs.

• Coordinate testing, documentation, training, and change management activities to support staff adoption and day-to-day use of Fabric data solutions.

Technical Knowledge and Skills: 

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, data integration, data lake or lakehouse architecture, ingestion pipelines, transformation workflows, data cleansing, reconciliation, curated Silver and Gold data layers, and reporting data models.
• Experience with reporting and analytics tools and practices, including Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, semantic models, dashboards, and queries.
• Experience with data governance principles, data quality practices, data standards, data dictionaries, taxonomies, and data management methodologies.
• Knowledge of business analysis and testing practices, including requirements gathering and validation, test planning, troubleshooting, and communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of privacy, security, legislative, and government standards related to the management, use, and reporting of organizational data.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex data, systems, and business requirements.
• Experience providing technical guidance, managing competing priorities, and exercising sound judgment in a changing data and systems environment.
• Knowledge of change management, documentation, training, and user adoption practices for technical solutions.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Power Automate, Python, PySpark, SQL, Jupyter Notebooks, machine learning, and AI-driven analytics would be considered an asset.
