We are looking for an experienced Graphics Engineer to join our Minecraft engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to our rendering engine and visual pipeline, implementing features and maintaining systems that ensure a smooth and reliable experience for millions of players.
Our team operates within established process frameworks and works closely with cross-functional partner teams who help shape our technical and visual direction. We are looking for engineers who thrive in a collaborative environment - whether your background leans toward core rendering infrastructure, shader implementation, or cross-platform graphics support.
A snapshot of your role:
- Work within our existing low-level rendering architecture, hardware abstraction layers, and engine foundations
- Profile, debug, and optimize rendering performance for memory and frame rates across target platforms
- Help maintain cross-platform graphics API support and hardware-specific graphics code
- Implement visual features, shaders, and lighting/shading models based on technical requirements and partner team inputs
- Build and support game-focused rendering features that align with established visual specs and gameplay needs
- Iterate on visual tech to ensure consistency, stability, and solid performance across both lower-spec and higher-spec hardware

Sound like you? This is what we’re looking for:
- 3-5+ years of software engineering experience in game development, with a focus on graphics and rendering
- Strong C++ proficiency: Practical understanding of modern C++, memory management, performance profiling, and concurrent programming
- Graphics API Experience: Working knowledge of modern graphics APIs such as DirectX 12, Vulkan, Metal, etc.
- Shader Development: Hands-on experience writing and modifying shaders (HLSL/GLSL)
- 3D Math Foundations: Solid grasp of linear algebra, vector math, and 3D rendering fundamentals
- Cross-Platform Experience: Familiarity with target platform constraints and performance profiling/debugging techniques
- Experience shipping a game through full production cycles on console, PC, or mobile
- Unreal Engine 5 experience: Practical background working with or adapting UE5’s rendering pipeline, visual systems, or shaders
- Experience contributing to custom game engines or existing multi-platform rendering pipelines
- Familiarity with standard rendering techniques (e.g., PBR, post-processing, compute shaders)
- Experience with multi-threading and GPU profiling tools (PIX, RenderDoc, Nsight)

The base salary range for this position is $83,000–$140,000. The stated pay scale reflects the combined compensation ranges for the levels applicable to this position. Your base salary and level will be determined by various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, skills, experience, and demonstrated competencies.
