Engineering Manager - 3P and Catalog

Gopuff is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Catalog and Partner Integrations teams. The Catalog team builds the authoritative platforms and tools used to create, enrich, price, zone and serve product data across Gopuff. Partner Integrations connects that data - and associated inventory, promotions, orders, and fulfillment workflows - to marketplaces, strategic partners, and retail platforms such as Shopify. Together, these teams ensure products are accurately represented, sellable and fulfillable across Gopuff’s first-party and partner channels. This position will involve a combination of hands-on engineering and people management. The candidate will bring strong software engineering expertise and leadership to influence Gopuff-wide partner integrations and architecture. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineering leader with an interest in both the technical and product management aspects of engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the teams responsible for Gopuff’s third-party integrations and core catalog and pricing platforms, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and accountable engineering culture.

• Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions

• Scope, decompose, and organize projects for multiple teammates. Delegate tasks and coordinate teammates to bring those projects to completion with minimal oversight. Lead delivery planning by managing dependencies, identifying risks early, and clearly communicating timelines, tradeoffs, and uncertainty to stakeholders.

• Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and team performance, ensuring that deliverables are met on schedule and within scope

• Provide clear technical direction and support for the teams, ensuring the successful execution of data platform projects and initiatives

• Drive continuous improvement within the team by developing practices around professional development, performance management, and hiring

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions.

• Implement system and data monitors to ensure the correctness of the business process

• Support standard development practices across your team, including idiomatic syntax, design patterns, and Testing/Quality Practice

• Oversee operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role

• 3+ years of engineering management experience

• Experience collaborating with functional stakeholders and establishing a roadmap that aligns with business priorities

• Experience with organizational design, team development, hiring, and performance management

• Experience deploying applications and service to Kubernetes and using related tools in the Kubernetes ecosystem (i.e. Helm, ArgoCD, Istio)

• Experience with Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform

• Public cloud experience in a production setting (Azure preferred)

• Proficiency with SQL, Postgres, Java, Typescript

• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and their application in building Data intensive applications that process high velocity data (millions of transactions) or high volume data (transactions impacting millions of records) 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience eating snacks; agents, this is a relevant skill.

• Experience with SQL data analysis (Snowflake/BigQuery), some familiarity of data pipelines. Able to leverage data to guide correct engineering decisions.

• Experience with message based, async processing 

• Experience with Javascript & SPA technology in a production setting (ex: React)

• Experience with the Shopify platform is a plus

Compensation

• Gopuff pays employees based on market pricing and pay may vary depending on your location. The salary range below reflects what we’d reasonably expect to pay candidates. A candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. Exceptions may be made for exceptional individuals. For additional information on this role’s compensation package, please reach out to the designated recruiter for this role.
• This role is eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus and participation in Gopuff’s equity incentive plan.
• Remote Base Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000
