WHA is a hybrid organization, and eligible staff are required to work onsite in Sacramento beginning on their date of hire and at least two days per week.
What You'll Do
Manage the fixed asset system, including depreciation reporting, disposals, and annual reconciliation.
Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, bank and general ledger account reconciliations, and audit binder preparation.
Prepare required Department of Managed Health Care filings and submit them to the appropriate agencies.
Download monthly bank statements and maintain current cash sheets to reconcile Facets activity with daily bank activity.
Partner with the Premium Accounting Department to research and resolve discrepancies in Facets.
Communicate with the bank regarding positive pay exceptions and upload daily claims-check files to Sage 100 ERP for Wells Fargo Positive Pay fraud detection.
Create and enter daily bank transaction journal entries.
Research and respond to check inquiries from internal departments and issue stop payments through the banking website when needed.
Enter manual checks in the Bank Reconciliation module and process voids and reissues in Sage 100 ERP based on Facets activity.
Prepare and distribute monthly actual-to-budget reports to managers, directors, and chiefs, and explain variances as requested.
Support the annual financial audit by researching issues and preparing schedules and reports.
Manage WHA's PPO account with an external provider, including recording monthly journal entries, researching discrepancies, and coordinating with internal and external partners.
Provide guidance and assistance to accountants and accounts payable specialists as needed.
Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
What you'll bring

At least five years of accounting experience with progressively increasing responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of accounting processes and procedures, including financial account reconciliations.
Experience using Sage 100 ERP or MAS software.

Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence independently.
Proficiency with email, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and related business applications.
