About Vision: DataScout, a Vision Government Solutions company, is a leading high-tech Government Technology firm providing cutting-edge software and services to the public sector. Through our efforts, local communities have the funding needed to maintain roads, schools and emergency services.

Responsibilities

Profiling and normalizing incoming raw data files (CSV, flat files, Excel, database files).
Monitoring and troubleshooting production ETL processes, investigating and resolving failures.
Building and modifying SSIS packages for reoccurring ETL processes, with guidance from senior database team members.
Making routine database schema changes, under the direction of senior database team members, and participating in design reviews for larger changes.
Assisting with onboarding new clients and new data sources. Verifying data sources conform with existing data warehouse structures.
Running data quality checks and flagging anomalies before they reach the customer.
Responding to data issues reported by internal teams, tracing them back to the source and documenting the fix.
Translating data issues into plain language for Sales and Customer Relations and into clear technical detail for Development.
Documenting ETL processes, data sources, and load schedules.

Qualifications

Excellent organizational skills and a drive to meet and exceed goals.
A bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience:
- 2+ years’ experience in Microsoft SQL Server relational databases and familiarity with a scripting or programming language (C#, Python, or PowerShell) for automating data tasks.
Ability to write and troubleshoot T-SQL Code, write ad hoc queries for reports, and design (stored procedures, tables, views, indexes, constraints)

Other desirable skills

Experience with ETL design and operations: SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Agent, and SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT). (a plus, not required. We’ll train you on our stack.)
Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure cloud hosting environments.
Experience with Server Administration in a multi-server database environment
Knowledge of indexes, index management, and database configuration.
