Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Intelligence

Type: Direct hire, full-time · Base: $220,000–$292,000 + equity · Clearance: U.S. Person required (export control); Secret clearance preferred

VDS is recruiting a senior ML engineer to bring AI onto the factory floor of a maritime defense production division. You will build the platform that turns inspection, root-cause and document problems into working AI tools.

What you'll do

• Design and run the end-to-end ML platform, from training to deployment.
• Build model serving for cloud, edge devices and the shop floor.
• Turn factory problems into AI workflows with human review built in.
• Integrate with PLM, MES and ERP systems.
• Set model governance and drift monitoring, and share on-call duty.

What you bring

• 8+ years building production software.
• A degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• MLOps, Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, Docker and Kubernetes, time-series data, monitoring.

Nice to have

• Manufacturing or OT systems, computer vision or OCR.
• Airflow or Flyte, CUDA or TensorRT, retrieval-augmented generation.
