About the role
Suspension & Automotive Technician
Golden and/or Arvada, Colorado
Full-time | On-site | Competitive hourly pay based on experience
Love working on vehicles? We’ll teach you the specialist skills.
At Vanlife Customs, we build and upgrade premium adventure vehicles, primarily Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and Ford Transits.
We’re looking for a mechanically minded, motivated person to join our team, specializing in suspension upgrades, lift systems, performance brakes and related automotive work.
You’ll work with some of the best equipment in the industry, including Quigley QLift, Agile Offroad, Van Compass, FOX and other premium suspension systems.
Many of the vehicles we work on are brand new, so care, precision and attention to detail are essential.
You don’t need to be an experienced suspension specialist. We’ll provide extensive hands-on training.
What you’ll do
- Install suspension lifts, shocks, springs, control arms and related components.
- Install big brake kits and other performance upgrades.
- Learn to diagnose and resolve suspension and mechanical issues.
- Follow installation procedures, torque specifications and quality-control processes.
- Inspect completed work and support vehicle testing.
- Work carefully on high-value vehicles, maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
- Collaborate with our production and service teams.
Who we’re looking for
You’re mechanically inclined. You enjoy working with your hands, understand how things fit together and are comfortable using tools.
You take pride in your work. You’re careful, methodical and pay attention to details.
You’re curious and eager to learn. You enjoy figuring things out, asking questions and developing new skills.
You’re dependable. You show up, follow through and take responsibility for doing the job properly.
You’re a team player. You enjoy working alongside experienced people and contributing to a great workshop environment.
Some automotive repair, maintenance, tire shop, 4x4 or aftermarket installation experience would be valuable, but isn’t essential.
We’re more interested in your attitude, mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn than your qualifications or years of experience.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Why join us?
Vanlife Customs is part of Waypoint Group, alongside TOURIG and Contravans.
We’re growing, investing in our workshop capabilities and building a team that takes pride in exceptional work.
You’ll receive hands-on training, work with premium equipment and interesting vehicles, and develop valuable specialist automotive skills alongside experienced colleagues.
We value Curiosity, Drive, Excellence, Discipline and Teamwork.
Compensation: $27-34/hr plus performance bonuses
Benefits: Health, dental, medical and excellent team culture
Interested?
Tell us a little about your mechanical experience, projects you’ve worked on and why this opportunity interests you.
You don’t need to know how to install a RIP Kit today. You just need the aptitude and motivation to learn.
