Title: IT Systems Administrator

Reports To: Associate Manager of Technical Services

SET SEG is looking for an IT Systems Administrator that will be responsible for administering, maintaining, and improving SET SEG’s infrastructure environment, including virtualization, container platforms, networking, identity, storage, Linux and Windows systems, and backup and recovery operations. This hands-on role will help keep data protected and core business operations running without interruption. The IT Systems Administrator will work across the full technology stack, troubleshoot issues from diagnosis through resolution, and support a modern, security-conscious infrastructure environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Administer and maintain Windows Server Hyper-V virtual machines and failover clustering backed SAN storage over iSCSI.
Operate, troubleshoot, and extend container platforms, including Kubernetes and Docker.
Manage identity and access across hybrid Microsoft 365 and on-premises Active Directory environments.
Work with the Network Administrator to maintain network configuration, segmentation, and connectivity across firewalls, VLANs, routing, and switching environments.
Manage backup and recovery operations, including monitoring jobs, validating backups, testing restores, and maintaining a defensible recovery posture.
Automate provisioning, configuration, and routine operations using Ansible and scripting.
Administer Linux systems, including Ubuntu and similar distributions, alongside the Windows environment.
Manage server updates for Linux and Microsoft.
Participate in system upgrade planning, capacity planning, incident response, and infrastructure improvement efforts.
Support the organization’s phone system.
Communicate clearly and collaboratively with IT teammates and business stakeholders, sharing information, documenting changes, and flagging risks early.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant work experience.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience administering enterprise infrastructure environments, including Windows Server, virtualization platforms, Linux systems, networking, identity management, and backup/recovery operations.
Hands-on experience administering Windows Server Hyper-V, including virtual machines and failover clustering.
Practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including deployment, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
Comfortable administering, patching, and troubleshooting Linux servers from the command line.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and methodical connectivity troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of SAN storage, iSCSI, and how storage performance affects infrastructure workloads.
Experience managing Microsoft 365 administration, on-premises Active Directory, and hybrid identity environments.
Experience using Ansible and scripting to support configuration management, automation, and repeatable operations.
Experience running, monitoring, and validating backup and recovery processes.
Reliable, flexible, communicative, and able to follow issues through to completion.
Strong customer service skills
Contributing to a positive work environment.
Experience in a regulated or data-sensitive industry, exposure to GitOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, enterprise backup immutability, PowerShell, or Python is preferred.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Several hours per day at a sit/stand desk, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to spend several hours per day at a computer. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
