Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

About the Role

Krügel Cobbles, Inc. is hiring a reliable CDL Class A Driver / Excavation Equipment Operator to join our hardscape installation team for the remainder of the 2026 season. The season concludes in late fall or early winter, with the final work date depending on weather and project schedules.

This hands-on position combines driving six-wheeler dump trucks, transporting equipment and materials, operating excavation equipment, and performing physical field labor. You will help prepare sites for patios, driveways, walkways, and other outdoor living projects.

Hand excavation with a shovel and other physical labor are regular responsibilities of this position. We are looking for someone who works safely, communicates well, and is ready to support the crew.

New CDL Class A drivers are encouraged to apply! Previous commercial driving and excavation equipment experience is preferred but not required. Applicants must hold a valid Class A CDL, be willing to learn, and be comfortable performing hands-on field labor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving and hauling: Drive six-wheeler dump trucks and tow equipment trailers to transport machinery, aggregates, materials, and excavated spoils.

  • Equipment securement: Safely load, unload, and secure equipment using appropriate chains, binders, and straps.

  • Equipment operation: Operate Dingos, skid steers, and mini excavators for excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and material handling.

  • Hand excavation and labor: Dig with a shovel, move materials, rake and level areas, and assist with site preparation and cleanup.

  • Site safety: Follow site instructions and marked utility locations, maintain awareness of ground workers, and follow safe excavation procedures.

  • Inspections and maintenance: Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, grease equipment, check fluids, and promptly report mechanical or safety concerns.

  • Teamwork: Work closely with the excavation foreman and other crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a satisfactory driving record.

  • Current DOT medical certification.

  • Previous commercial truck driving and equipment trailer experience is preferred but not required.

  • Experience operating Dingos, skid steers, mini excavators, or similar excavation equipment is preferred but not required.

  • Willingness to learn and follow safe equipment loading, unloading, and load securement procedures.

  • Willingness to perform regular hand excavation and physical labor.

  • Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to follow directions and work with a crew.

  • Ability to meet applicable pre-employment DOT drug-testing requirements and complete a background check.

Physical Requirements

This position involves frequent bending, kneeling, shoveling, lifting, carrying, and climbing on and off trucks and equipment. Applicants must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Environmental Conditions

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.

  • Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and moving construction equipment.

  • Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and prolonged standing.

  • Operation of excavation equipment and commercial vehicles in active construction environments.

  • Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to company safety procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $26.00–$30.00+ per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills.

  • Overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours worked per week.

  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
