Contract End Date: 06/30/2027

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to provide advanced database administration, development support, data migration, database security, performance optimization, and production database operations.

The successful candidate will support SQL Server and Azure database environments across the application development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, migration, QA, data cleanup, production support, and ongoing database maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced SQL Server database administration and production database operations.

• Support application development lifecycle activities including planning, design, development, implementation, data migration, QA, data cleanup, and data administration.

• Manage database security, availability, monitoring, backup/recovery, and performance optimization.

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server software, including Service Pack installations.

• Perform SQL Server health checks and provide performance recommendations.

• Execute SQL database migrations and upgrades from legacy servers and SQL Server versions.

• Perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading, and validation.

• Deploy, configure, secure, back up, and maintain Azure SQL databases.

• Integrate Azure SQL resources with other Azure services.

• Develop and deploy database schemas across test and production environments.

• Perform logical and physical database modeling.

• Develop and maintain database structures, tables, relationships, indexes, and normalization.

• Support PSP Data Warehouse, Data Marts, and Power BI environments.

• Coordinate database backup and restore activities.

• Analyze and resolve database-related technical issues.

• Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.

• Participate in software releases and database-related implementation activities.

• Identify and track issues, risks, dependencies, and action items.

• Estimate work effort and schedule assigned activities.

• Provide regular project/status updates.

• Follow established database standards, procedures, and security requirements.

• Work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively within a team.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

• Complete assigned tasks within required timelines.

Candidates should demonstrate strong hands-on experience with:

• Microsoft SQL Server administration

• Production database environments

• SQL Server installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting

• Database migration and modernization

• Azure SQL Database administration

• Backup, restore, security, and disaster recovery

• Database performance tuning and health monitoring

• Data Warehouse and Data Mart environments

• Data migration and ETL-related activities

• Database schema and data modeling

• Power BI environments

• High-availability technologies such as SQL Server Always On

• Stakeholder, vendor, and technical team collaboration

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Work Location: Remote

• Preferred Candidate Location: Harrisburg, PA area

• Candidate must be able to support the required work schedule.

• Equipment pickup or related requirements may be discussed during the interview/selection process.

Contract Information

• Current PO is funded through June 30, 2027.

• 06/30/2027 should be listed as the contract end date on the RTR.

• The final contract duration is subject to project schedule and business requirements.

• Historically, additional funding may become available for 07/01/2027–06/30/2028, but this period is not guaranteed.

Priority Screening Criteria

Candidates must clearly demonstrate:

1. 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience

2. 4+ years of production database administration

3. 1+ year of Azure Database Administration

4. 3+ years of Data Analytics experience

5. 1+ year of Data Warehouse experience

6. Strong communication and customer-service skills

Power BI Administration and SQL Server Always On experience will be considered strong advantages.
