Maintenance Technician - Electrician

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and consistently follow company safety, food-safety, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain industrial electrical systems and components, including motors, motor controls, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), starters, relays, sensors, switches, panels, disconnects, transformers, lighting, and related wiring.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control issues on conveyors, blenders, dryers, packaging equipment, pneumatic systems, and other production machinery to restore safe operation and minimize downtime.
• Follow lockout/tagout and electrical safe-work procedures, including establishing an electrically safe work condition, using required PPE, and observing arc-flash boundaries.
• Complete preventive and predictive maintenance inspections on electrical and mechanical equipment; identify emerging issues and recommend corrective action before failure occurs.
• Perform basic PLC diagnostics, monitor ladder logic, trace input/output (I/O) faults, and troubleshoot network communication issues on automated production equipment.
• Follow lockout/tagout and electrical safe-work procedures, including establishing an electrically safe work condition, using required PPE, and observing arc-flash boundaries in accordance with NFPA 70E.
• Read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical blueprints.
• Complete preventive and predictive maintenance inspections on electrical and mechanical equipment; identify emerging issues and recommend corrective action before failure occurs.
• Utilize the plant Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, track preventive maintenance, log labor, and record parts usage.
• Coordinate planned maintenance and repairs with maintenance and production leadership to reduce disruption to operations.
• Perform mechanical maintenance and repair work, including work on bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics, and other production equipment, within training and experience.
• Assist with equipment installation, fabrication, modification, commissioning, and continuous-improvement projects.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of electrical components, repair parts, and supplies; notify the Maintenance Manager of critical or low-stock items.
• Communicate equipment status, hazards, repair needs, and estimated downtime clearly to maintenance and production leadership.
• Participate in emergency breakdown response and work assigned overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when business needs require.
• Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands and arms, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs or ladders while working in and around production equipment.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, using appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment when needed.
• Work at heights above 30 feet from ladders, scissor lifts, or similar equipment and safely use required fall-protection equipment.
• Work in tight or confined areas when properly trained, authorized, and following required safety procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including hearing, eye, hand, foot, respiratory, fall-protection, and electrical/arc-flash PPE as applicable.
• Work is performed primarily in an active food-manufacturing facility around moving machinery and industrial electrical equipment.
• The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, airborne food ingredients, pungent odors, temperature changes, wet or slippery surfaces, and hot or cold conditions.
• The facility handles allergens including, but not limited to, wheat, soy, egg, milk, peanuts, and tree nuts.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Journeyman Electrician license issued by Idaho, or other electrical license accepted by the Company for the work assigned, required.
• 3+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience in food manufacturing, dry-blending, packaging, or another regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 / NEC, and applicable OSHA standards (including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Fall Protection).
