About the role

Little do people know, accounting specialists keep the world turning!  We are searching for a unique Accounting Specialist who is looking for a unique employer -- maybe that’s you?  We have spent years building a world-class employee experience, and this might be your opportunity to be a part of it!

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing day-to-day bookkeeping activities to ensure accurate financial records for assigned clients. This is a foundational, entry-level role focused on learning core bookkeeping and funeral-home accounting fundamentals — debits/credits, general ledger coding, the chart of accounts, and standard workflows — while completing assigned tasks accurately with review.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
  • Communicate and reinforce the mission and vision of DIG and its subsidiaries.
  • Exemplify DIG core values of love, growth, and community.
  • Record client financial transactions on a daily basis, ensuring accurate account coding and attention to detail.
  • Maintain bookkeeping records to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform routine analysis of transactions, costs, revenues, and financial activity to support reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain key accounting processes required for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings and deadlines.
  • May process accounts payable (A/P) for assigned clients — including vendor invoices, payment runs, and vendor records — if assigned this responsibility at the supervisor's discretion.
  • Utilize client administration software to support accurate revenue recognition and documentation.
  • Maintain and update client workflows to ensure assigned work is complete and timely.
  • Double-check own entries and work to catch errors before they reach review, not the client.
  • Follow established procedures and raise questions or escalate anything outside the routine rather than improvising.
  • Begin keeping personal notes on how to perform recurring tasks as a foundation for future documentation.
  • Prioritize time-sensitive tasks and manage assigned workload, relying on a supervisor to set priorities.
  • Learn and adopt the team's AI and automation tools — AI assistants, automated bank feeds, data entry — as part of daily work, and ask how manual steps could be automated.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures and meet deadlines
  • Effective problem-solving and follow-through skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional interpersonal skills when interacting with clients and coworkers
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and processes

Education & Experience
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience using QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Experience with other accounting or A/P systems a plus
