Responsibilities Job Location - 646 S Flores St – Cypress Bldg San Antonio, TX 78204 Schedule - Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm Hybrid (more than 50% in office work weekly) Job Summary: Corporate Tax is responsible for managing an organization's tax strategy, compliance, and planning to ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations while optimizing the company's tax position. Professionals in this job family play a key role in minimizing tax liabilities, managing risk, and supporting business decisions through accurate tax analysis and reporting. As a Property Tax Accountant I, you will be part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Learn and maintain Property Tax compliance software (PTMS) Post notice/protest/final values in Property Tax compliance software and calculate estimated tax liability Assist in analyzing furnished data to generate renditions and exemption applications Review tax statements for payments and interact with governmental agencies to ensure liabilities are accounted for and processed timely Assist with maintaining property tax exemptions (ag exemption, pollution control, etc.) Take initiative to transition all property tax mailing communication and payments to electronic/paperless format. Assist in providing support to internal teams (Real Estate, Store Accounting, Legal) across the company to ensure accurate property tax account set ups and answer questions for new stores/sales/other changes. Prepare and review accurate corporate tax returns (Property Tax renditions) Assist in developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize liabilities Support in internal and external audits Analyze financial data Maintain records of tax filings and payments Research tax laws and regulations to advise on solutions Reconcile tax data to assist with filings Be willing to cross-train and assist in other tax compliance projects (sales & use or income tax related). Works on special projects and perform other duties, as assigned. The responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Applies practical knowledge, learned theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies to difficult but non-complex, conventional assignments. Majority of work efforts are focused on meeting objectives related to implementation or delivery of processes, programs, and/or policies. Builds productive internal and external working relationships. Work Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience preferred Experience in corporate tax or public accounting, preferred Experience in Property Tax, preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Understanding of tax principals and accounting practices (Property Tax) Understanding of corporate tax regulations Working knowledge with MS Office Attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to communicate in team environment Experience with property tax software (PTMS), preferred Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines Education: Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, finance or related field Licenses/Certifications: CPA certification, a plus Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Function in a fast-paced, office environment Travel by car or plane with overnight stays Work extended hours; sit for extended periods Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
