About the role

About Ozlo

Ozlo is a health tech company transforming how the world sleeps. We design and manufacture an ecosystem of sleep solutions, including the Ozlo Sleepbuds®, that use sophisticated technology and sound to unlock restorative sleep. Founded in 2022 by former Bose leaders, we have sold hundreds of thousands of units, are fully backed, and are now scaling our next generation of products as we expand from consumer wellness into clinical sleep and neuro health.

About the Role

We are looking for a Vice President of Engineering to lead engineering and technical program management across the company. You will manage teams across software, mobile, cloud, firmware, electrical, mechanical and systems, and guide our hardware from concept through commercial manufacturing.

Our engineering leads are highly senior and have launched dozens of products between them. This role is about management, program management and coordination, more than individual engineering work (with some expectation to be able to help make senior-level engineering calls). Your job is to make these teams work as one, work with product leadership and senior management to track and deliver engineering priorities, keep every program moving, and work closely with product, design, operations and clinical to get products built and shipped. Communication and coordination are the core of the role.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Ozlo's engineering teams across software, mobile, cloud, firmware, electrical, mechanical and systems, including in-house engineers and outside partners

  • Own engineering program management across all departments, with clear plans, milestones, budgets and risk tracking

  • Guide hardware from concept through EVT, DVT, PVT and mass production with global contract manufacturers

  • Coordinate across product, design, operations, supply chain, quality and regulatory, clinical and marketing so every team is aligned on priorities, dependencies and dates

  • Work with product leadership and senior management to set, track and deliver engineering priorities, turning the product roadmap into a realistic engineering plan and balancing support for current products with next-generation development

  • Put the right level of process in place, including design reviews, release management, documentation and design controls for regulated products, without slowing the team down

  • Use AI tools to speed up engineering and program management, and help the team do the same

  • Keep leadership and stakeholders informed with clear, regular updates on status, risks and decisions

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of experience in engineering, including 5+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Experience developing connected audio devices

  • Working knowledge across software, firmware, electrical and mechanical engineering, and how they come together in one product

  • Proven experience taking hardware from concept to mass production with contract manufacturers

  • Experience running engineering program management across multiple teams and functions

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a track record of aligning senior engineers and cross-functional leaders

  • Sound judgment on cost, schedule and quality tradeoffs

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with regulated medical devices or SaMD (FDA 510(k), ISO 13485, IEC 60601, ISO 14971)

  • Experience with biometric sensing or on-device machine learning

  • Previous startup experience, as a founder or early employee

Location & Travel

This role is based near one of our hubs: Dublin, Ireland or Greater Boston (Marlborough) with Dublin preferred. Strong candidates elsewhere will be considered. Regular travel between our hubs and to manufacturing partners is expected.

Why Ozlo

Join a collaborative, fast-paced, global team focused on helping millions of people sleep better. You will shape how Ozlo builds products as we grow from consumer wellness into clinical health.
