Role Summary
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be responsible for managing the dealership’s payroll and employee benefit processes while assisting with daily HR administration. This position requires someone who is highly organized, accurate, and comfortable handling confidential employee information. The role will also provide administrative support to dealership leadership and assist with basic accounting tasks when needed.
Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits
- Process weekly payroll accurately, including hourly wages, commissions, and employee time records
- Review payroll information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Administer employee benefits and assist with enrollment and qualifying life events
- Maintain benefit records and required documentation
- Help ensure payroll and benefits practices comply with applicable federal and state requirements
- Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with audits, reporting, and employment verifications
- Work with the Controller and management team on payroll reporting and related expenses
Human Resources
- Assist with employee onboarding, departures, and maintaining personnel records
- Serve as a resource for employees with payroll, benefits, and general HR questions
- Help maintain employee policies, handbooks, and related documentation
- Support recruiting activities, including posting open positions, reviewing applicants, and coordinating interviews
- Assist with employee relations matters and other HR projects as needed
Administrative Support
- Prepare employee reports, records, and other HR-related documentation
- Provide departments and management with payroll and employee information as needed
- Handle sensitive employee and financial information with a high level of discretion
- Assist with general office and accounting-related duties when needed
- Take on additional administrative responsibilities to support dealership operations
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience working with payroll, benefits, HR, accounting, or a related field
- Previous automotive dealership experience is preferred but not required
- Experience with ADP, Paychex, or similar payroll platforms
- Working knowledge of payroll practices and applicable employment regulations
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
