Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled, safety-focused Electrician to join the Engineering/Facilities team supporting the Baptist Health IcePlex and War Memorial Auditorium. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the facility, including lighting, power distribution, ice plant and refrigeration electrical components, life-safety systems, and event/AV-related electrical support. This is a hands-on trade position supporting a fast-paced, event-driven sports and entertainment venue campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, panels, circuits, and equipment throughout the facility, including rinks, mechanical rooms, and public/back-of-house areas

• Support electrical needs of the ice plant and refrigeration system, coordinating with mechanical/engineering staff on compressor, pump, and control circuit issues

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical distribution equipment, transformers, panels, breakers, and emergency/backup power systems

• Diagnose and resolve lighting outages and issues across rinks, arenas, parking areas, and building exteriors

• Respond to electrical service calls and urgent repair needs ahead of and during public skating, hockey programs, concerts, and other events

• Install and maintain wiring and power for event-specific needs, including temporary power, AV, and production equipment

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and specifications

• Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA, and local/state electrical and building codes

• Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, panel schedules, and equipment maintenance history

• Coordinate with outside electrical contractors and vendors as needed on larger projects or permitted work

• Assist other facilities/engineering staff with general maintenance tasks during non-electrical periods, as directed

• Maintain tools, meters, and equipment in safe, calibrated working condition

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a licensed or journeyman-level electrician; commercial, industrial, or venue/facilities experience strongly preferred

• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical/building codes

• Experience with power distribution, motor controls, lighting systems, and low-voltage/life-safety circuits

• Familiarity with ice rink, refrigeration, or industrial mechanical electrical systems a plus

• Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or aerial lifts

• Ability to read electrical schematics, panel schedules, and safety data sheets (SDS)

• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to safety

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays around the event schedule

• Physical ability to stand, climb, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly

• Valid state electrician license/certification required (or ability to obtain per state/local requirements); high school diploma or equivalent

• Fast-paced venue environment with a rotating schedule tied to public skate sessions, hockey programs, concerts, and other live events

• Exposure to cold temperatures (rink areas), heights, confined mechanical spaces, and varying conditions across interior/exterior work

• Must be able to pass a background check
