About the role
Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.
At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.
A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.
Our Economy team owns the products and systems that power how creators earn and how users discover, buy, and express themselves through virtual goods. Together, these make up the world’s largest virtual economy, with millions of creators, hundreds of millions of users, and real money moving every second.
As a Software Engineer on Economy, you’ll build the experiences users and creators interact with every day. You’ll own meaningful features from day one, ship work that directly moves the business, and learn alongside experienced engineers who are invested in your growth. You’ll partner closely with product, design, data science, ML, and backend teams on projects with high economic impact and real visibility.
You Have
- 1-3 years of experience building production web or mobile frontends.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (React preferred).
- Strong intuition for user experience. You notice when something feels off and you know how to fix it.
- Experience working on consumer-facing products.
- Curiosity and comfort with ambiguity. You ask good questions and contribute ideas that help shape a project’s direction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Bonus: Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, monetization, personalization, or experimentation, or comfort contributing to backend services.
You Will
- Build and ship polished, high-performing experiences used by hundreds of millions of people across web and mobile.
- Create tools that help creators grow their businesses and reach the people who’ll love what they make.
- Bring personalization and data-driven features to life in partnership with ML and data science.
- Write performant, accessible, well-tested code, instrument your features, run experiments, and iterate based on what you learn.
- Own features end-to-end, from scoping through launch, and grow toward leading larger projects.
- Partner with product, design, and engineering to turn strategy into delightful user experiences.
