About the role

Why This Role Matters

The Senior Staff Systems Engineer for Mission Support Systems owns the enterprise systems JCO operations run on. You shape the data contracts and integration patterns connecting crew records, qualification tracking, scheduling, and reporting, reconcile requirements across divisions and partner nations, and define how those systems are supposed to behave under operational load. The user base spans multiple time zones and partner organizations, so changes are evaluated against operational impact before they ship.

What You Own

  • Own the end-to-end mission support solution spanning crew records, qualifications, scheduling, and readiness reporting.
  • Shape the data architecture: entities, relationships, data contracts, and integration patterns between platforms.
  • Design and maintain the access control model, including security groups, permissions, and trust boundaries across partner organizations.
  • Reconcile conflicting requirements between operational divisions, training, evaluation, and partner nations.
  • Define what good looks like for mission support systems and how system health is measured.
  • Lead trade studies on build-versus-configure, platform selection, and automation approach with documented rationale.
  • Turn operational incidents and failed workflows into architecture and process changes, and grow engineers behind you.

What You Bring

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED and 14+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Associate degree in a related field and 12+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience

Must-Have

  • Demonstrated ownership of an enterprise system supporting operational users, from requirements through sustainment in production.
  • Experience designing data models and access control architecture for systems serving multiple user populations and trust boundaries.
  • Proven ability to elicit requirements from operational stakeholders and translate them into working, documented solutions.
  • Hands-on development of workflow automation and reporting layers with measurable reduction in manual effort.
  • Experience managing platform integration and vendor relationships, including corrective action when upstream changes break operational workflows.
  • Track record sustaining a distributed user base across time zones and partner organizations through documentation, training, and direct support.

Preferred

  • Active TS/SCI.
  • Administration experience with work-management or LMS platforms such as ClickUp, Canvas, Jira, or ServiceNow, including automation development.
  • Experience supporting international or partner-nation users and coordinating access across organizational boundaries.
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent information technology certification.

Salary Range (CO)

$155,000—$185,000 USD
