Position Title: Lead Controls Electrician

Position Description: The Lead Controls Electrician is a senior working lead responsible for the electrical build and installation execution of custom automation equipment. This role leads and mentors electricians/controls technicians across multiple projects while remaining hands-on in panel build, machine wiring, and troubleshooting. The Lead Controls Electrician plans and sequences electrical work, removes roadblocks, and provides clear status communication to project stakeholders—ensuring scope is completed safely, on time, and to Axis quality standards. The ideal candidate can balance multiple jobs in different phases (build, debug, runoff, install), works closely with controls and mechanical engineering, and drives a “no-rework” culture through standards, verification, and coaching.

Responsibilities:

• Build and wire custom electrical panels and machine systems per design, specifications and customer documentation
• Interpret and execute electrical schematics accurately (panel layout, machine wiring, I/O wiring, safety circuits as applicable)
• Perform disciplined troubleshooting and resolve electrical issues efficiently during build, power-up and on-site startup
• Document changes/redlines and communicate updates throughout the build process to ensure accurate project records and smooth handoffs
• Wire according to applicable codes/standards (NEC) and Axis workmanship standards; maintain clean, organized work areas and safe practices 
• Support project success by focusing on quality, cost awareness and customer satisfaction. 
• Lead and guide electrical team members across multiple projects, setting priorities and maintaining steady progress toward project milestones
• Monitor electrical build progress and proactively communicate schedule risks, open issues, and resource needs to Electrical and Project Managers
• Request Quotes from Vendors and order material need to complete a project (Cables, Terminals, Wireway Divider, etc.)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Controls Engineering, Mechanical, Project Management, Purchasing, and Assembly through all stages of the project to align scope and resolve integration issues
• Participate in customer-site installation, tear down (when applicable), and startup support; represent Axis professionally with a safety-first, customer-focused approach

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience wiring custom automated machinery
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; able to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently
• Comfortable reading electrical schematics and working with complex mechanical systems
• High attention to safety and detail; consistent adherence to safe work practices and quality checkpoints
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate a team; comfortable delegating tasks and verifying completion/quality
• Strong communication and self-direction; able to provide clear updates, escalate risks early, and document changes
• Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, OneNote) and ability to use digital tools for progress tracking and documentation
• Able to complete assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision and make sound decisions under pressure
• Willingness to travel up to 20% (local, national, international)
• Ability to maintain steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in/under machines
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required

Wage: $32.00 - $36.00/hour (Wage dependent on experience)

Additional Compensation: Overtime pay, travel pay
