We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support the integration, configuration, and validation of power monitoring and metering solutions for Remote Power Panels (RPPs) and related power distribution products. This role will focus on integrating first- and third-party metering devices, configuring communication interfaces, and supporting system-level interoperability within commercial and industrial power distribution systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and third-party vendors to ensure reliable communication between metering devices, RPP controllers, and monitoring platforms. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in power monitoring systems, industrial communications, and networking technologies.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $80000 - $118000 a year.

What you’ll do:
- Support the integration and validation of first-party and third-party metering devices with Remote Power Panel (RPP) products.
- Configure and test communication interfaces between metering devices, controllers, gateways, and monitoring systems.
- Support device configuration, commissioning, and interoperability testing.
- Troubleshoot communication and connectivity issues in laboratory and field environments.
- Investigate and resolve customer-reported and internally identified product issues.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Support software and firmware release validation activities.
- Work with systems, hardware, firmware, test, and product management teams to ensure successful product integration.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, integration guides, and validation reports.
- Participate in laboratory testing involving power distribution and monitoring equipment.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience with networking, communications, embedded systems, or power monitoring through coursework, internships, co-op assignments, research projects, or industry experience.
- At least 1 year of programming experience in C, C++, Python, or a similar language.
- Understanding of IP networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience involving industrial controls, networking, power systems, embedded systems, or communications technologies.
- Familiarity with Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP protocols.
- Familiarity with TCP/IP networking concepts including IP addressing, subnets, ports, routing, and network diagnostics.
- Experience with Ethernet, RS-485, serial communications, or industrial networking technologies.
- Experience configuring or testing connected devices and networked systems.
- Knowledge of SNMP, BACnet, MQTT, or other communication protocols.
- Familiarity with Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), power monitoring systems, or related electrical equipment.
