Senior Embedded Developer

Job Summary:

The Senior Embedded Developer is responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and support of embedded software and electronic control systems used within the DISIO family of HVAC and Building Automation products.

Working within a multidisciplinary product development team, the Senior Embedded Developer will own key portions of and participate in the full product lifecycle from concept and architecture through production release and long-term support. The successful candidate will develop firmware for microcontroller-based systems, integrate communication networks, support hardware bring-up and validation activities, and contribute to reliable, maintainable, and scalable control platforms.

This role requires a proven track record of embedded systems design, hands-on problem solving, and effective collaboration with hardware designers, manufacturing engineers, quality personnel, and product stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for HVAC and Building Automation products.

Deliver and own key contributions to the complete product lifecycle from concept and architecture through production release and ongoing support.

Develop, troubleshoot, and harden robust embedded communication networks and system integrations.

Support hardware bring-up, product validation, and manufacturing readiness activities.

Investigate and resolve firmware, hardware, production, and field-related issues.

Develop and own test methods, automation tools, and technical documentation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, manufacturing, quality, and product management.

Take ownership of technical features, subsystems, or products and deliver reliable solutions focused on quality, maintainability, and customer value.

Qualifications

Required

Degree or Diploma in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

5+ years of experience developing embedded systems, with successful projects to show for it.

Proficiency in C development for microcontroller-based products.

Experience debugging embedded hardware and software systems.

Understanding of communication protocols and networking concepts.

Experience with RTOS and developing around hardware constraints.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to travel between the United States and Canada is required.

Preferred

Experience with FreeRTOS and LittleFS.

Experience with BACnet, CAN, Modbus, or similar communication protocols.

Experience with Python, JavaScript, RPA frameworks, or other software development automation tools.

Experience with automated testing, manufacturing test systems, or product validation.

Experience bringing new electronic products from concept through production.
