Senior Technical Project Consultant - Engineering and Asset Management

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced senior leader to provide leadership for engineering and asset management services supporting critical bridge infrastructure. This role will maintain leadership continuity while overseeing engineering priorities, infrastructure safety and reliability, lifecycle planning, maintenance, rehabilitation, and capital investment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

Provide strategic leadership and direction for engineering, construction, maintenance, and asset management services.

Oversee asset lifecycle planning, inspections, preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, and capital investment programs.

Support the safety, reliability, and long-term performance of bridge infrastructure.

Establish priorities and lead multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams in a complex and evolving environment.

Oversee capital planning, infrastructure risk management, regulatory compliance, and safety requirements.

Support procurement activities and ensure alignment with public-sector governance and decision-making processes.

Monitor organizational and infrastructure priorities, adjusting plans and resources as required.

Manage competing priorities, deadlines, and sensitive matters independently and with sound judgement.

Build effective relationships with employees, executives, government representatives, regulators, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Provide executive leadership with clear reporting, recommendations, and technical or operational advice.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience, or an equivalent combination of education and senior-level experience, in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or asset management.

Executive- or Director-level leadership experience within a complex environment.

Strong civil, structural, transportation, bridge, or related infrastructure experience.

Expertise in infrastructure asset management, lifecycle planning, capital planning, maintenance, rehabilitation, and risk management.

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams and deliver results in evolving environments.

Knowledge of public-sector governance, procurement, regulatory compliance, and safety requirements.

Strong executive communication, stakeholder-management, relationship-building, and decision-making skills.

Experience within a municipal, provincial, federal, or Crown corporation environment is considered an asset.

A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, preferably with registration or eligibility for registration in Nova Scotia, and/or a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
