About the role
The service covers the whole agent lifecycle. It creates and configures agents, runs long-lived sessions with durable state, executes tools and code in isolated environments, connects to customer data and systems with appropriate identity, and gives customers the logs, metrics, and controls they need to run agents in production. We work closely with leading model providers to bring their agent experiences to AWS customers. That means our engineers solve problems at the boundary between AWS customers, frontier labs, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
As Sr. SDM for Managed Agents, you will lead a team of senior engineers building one of the newest and fastest-growing areas of AWS. You will own the technical strategy and roadmap for the service, partner with model providers and AWS service teams, and be responsible for all aspects of its end-to-end engineering, operations, and growth. This is an early-stage service. You will set the engineering bar, hire and grow the team, and make architectural decisions that influence how enterprises run AI agents for years to come.
Basic qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years' experience in the development of mission-critical system software, with experience working on distributed systems, machine learning infrastructure, or large-scale data platforms
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building or operating services that run untrusted or customer-supplied code, such as serverless compute, container platforms, or sandboxed execution environments
- Experience developing and deploying cloud-based AI/ML technology, particularly LLM inference, agent frameworks, or tool-use and orchestration systems
- Deep knowledge of identity and access control in multi-tenant systems, including credential delegation and least-privilege design
- Experience leading technical partnerships with external companies, especially co-developing a product with a partner
- 5+ years' experience partnering with product, sales, and customer success teams to launch and grow a new service
- Advanced degree: Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or an MBA or similar business qualification
