Business Intelligence Engineer, Studios Analytics

Amazon MGM Studios is one of the largest and most ambitious content studios in the world. The Prime Video Finance Analytics organization supports this business with a centralized team of 40+ technical specialists spanning data engineering, business intelligence, data science, and product development, powering the data platforms and reporting that inform how content is planned, evaluated, and optimized across the entire Prime Video portfolio.

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join a dedicated, LA-based Studios Analytics team embedded alongside Amazon MGM Studios leadership. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Studios Analytics, you will build the dashboards, automated reporting, and AI-assisted tooling that give Studios leaders and the Strategy organization real-time visibility into content performance and portfolio health. You will translate the questions of senior content decision-makers into clear, reliable analytical products — and you will do it as part of a larger central technical organization, leveraging shared infrastructure, governed datasets, and established tooling rather than building in isolation.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role for someone who is energized by turning messy content and performance data into trusted, self-service reporting that leadership relies on daily.

Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards, automated reporting, and analytical tooling that surface title-level performance (launch KPIs, completion, retention) and portfolio views for Studios leadership, primarily through FrameOne and related surfaces.

- Automate high-volume, manual workflows — including templated title-level reporting, talent-facing presentations, and slate/portfolio summaries — with a bias toward scalable, reusable solutions over one-off outputs.

- Partner directly with Studios Strategy, Finance, and content stakeholders to refine ambiguous requests into specific, well-scoped deliverables, anticipating downstream needs.

- Write efficient, well-tested SQL and BI logic against governed datasets, ensuring your solutions are maintainable, performant, and resistant to data quality issues.

- Uphold central metric governance — using the single-source-of-truth definitions for content metrics so that Studios reporting is consistent with official Prime Video and finance reporting.

- Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery, in partnership with the organization's AI enablement function.

- Collaborate closely with data engineers, product development, and the financial reporting team to deliver integrated, dependency-light solutions.

- Enable self-service access to underlying data where appropriate, reducing reporting bottlenecks for business stakeholders.

About the team
This role sits on a newly-expanded LA Studios Analytics team embedded with Studios but part of the broader 40+ person central Prime Video Finance Analytics organization. This structure is deliberate: you'll have the proximity of a small, focused team partnering directly with Studios VPs and Strategy, with the leverage of shared central infrastructure, governed data, and a dedicated AI enablement function behind you.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience in data analysis, reporting, and forecasting to guide business decisions
- Knowledge of methods for statistical inference (e.g. regression, experimental design, significance testing)

Preferred qualifications

- Master's degree or above in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.
- Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
- Knowledge of basic modeling techniques such as linear regression, ANOVA etc.
- Experience in digital media/marketing strategy, data analysis, analytics & visualization
- Experience applying AI-assisted tooling to accelerate analytical or reporting workflows.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
