AWS Assurance Specialist for, Compliance, Assurance, Privacy, & Security (CAPS)

At AWS' scale, we must invent new ways to provide the highest level of assurance to our most regulatory conscious customers.

We are looking for a highly motivated assurance expert to join our team. As part of the team, you will manage targeted campaigns to solve complex compliance challenges, improve processes, and drive greater efficiencies across the security assurance organization. This role facilitates our ability to grow and scale our internal compliance processes to meet the compliance and regulatory expectations in markets and industries around the globe. You should be an experienced and industry professional who has the ability to understand IT and compliance processes, evaluate opportunities for improvement, and to be able to drive innovative campaigns through multiple organizations and teams.


Key job responsibilities

Regulatory Examination Delivery: Own end-to-end Domain Assurance delivery including planning, fieldwork, evidence collection, and reporting phases, ensuring all SLA targets are met.

Evidence Strategy and Collection: Develop and execute evidence collection strategies across AWS service teams, coordinating with builder teams to source, classify, and deliver artifacts that satisfy regulatory and assessor requirements within established timelines.

Regulatory Obligation Analysis: Analyze emerging and existing regulatory obligations to determine applicability, service team impact, and compliance posture for AWS services across multiple jurisdictions.

Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a point of contact for external regulators during examinations, managing assessor request lists (ARLs), responding to follow-up inquiries, and driving requests to closure.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with internal AWS teams to resolve request ambiguities, and ensure consistent regulatory messaging across engagements.

Risk Identification and Escalation: Identify compliance gaps, data quality discrepancies, and delivery risks across active engagements; escalate issues with clear root cause analysis and recommended remediation actions to senior leadership.

Regional and Jurisdictional Expertise: Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in one or more regulatory jurisdictions or frameworks


A day in the life
On a daily basis you will:
• Lead assurance engagements articulating AWS security control design and operational effectiveness to diverse stakeholders
• Make diligent decisions on regulatory and auditor engagement approaches with minimal oversight, iterating on mechanisms to scale for diverse customer requirements
• Analyze compliance impact of new regulations and customer requirements, developing mitigation strategies with public policy and cross-functional teams
• Deliver presentations and technical documentation to regulatory bodies, customers, and internal leadership to drive alignment on security compliance strategies
• Define business problems, set objectives, and influence resource allocation to drive security assurance improvements and operational excellence

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Security, Computer Science, Risk Management, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent technology experience
- 5+ years of HR, privacy, legal, compliance or risk management experience
- 7+ years of program management, project management or product management experience

Preferred qualifications

- 5+ years of regulatory frameworks and policy analysis methodologies experience
- 8+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
- Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience with domestic or international travel coordination
- Cloud Security and Compliance Knowledge
- One or more relevant certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CRISC, or equivalent credentials demonstrating depth in information security, risk management, or IT audit disciplines.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
