Sr. Manger, Specialist Solution Architects - Relational Databases, WWSO, Data & AI GTM

As a Senior Manager, Specialist Solutions Architecture for Relational Databases, you will own the worldwide specialist SA strategy for Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-Compatible and MySQL-Compatible), Amazon Aurora DSQL, Amazon RDS across open source engines (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB) and commercial engines (Oracle, SQL Server), and the AWS Database Migration Service (DMS). You will lead a geographically distributed team of specialist solutions architects who are recognized as the definitive technical authorities on these services. Your team engages directly with customers on their hardest problems: data modeling, heterogeneous and homogeneous migration planning, performance optimization, and architecture design at scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will maintain your own technical credibility through direct customer engagement, represent the voice of the customer back to service teams, and set the technical bar for your organization. You will partner closely with service Engineering Leaders, Go-to-Market leadership, Technical Field Communities (TFCs), and regional SA leaders to ensure specialist investment is tightly aligned to customer need and business priority.

You will define and execute scalable mechanisms (content, enablement, tooling, and engagement models) that allow your team to operate as a force multiplier across the broader field organization. You will build a culture of technical excellence, customer obsession, and operational rigor that attracts and retains top technical talent. A central part of your charter is leading customers through modernization and migration off legacy commercial databases to Aurora and open source engines, unlocking cost, performance, and innovation outcomes at enterprise scale.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the worldwide specialist SA strategy for the commercial and open source database portfolio, with Amazon Aurora at the center.

- Lead, coach, and grow a distributed team of specialist solutions architects operating as the definitive technical authorities on relational databases at AWS.

- Engage directly with strategic customers on their most complex challenges: migration from Oracle and SQL Server, data modeling, performance and cost optimization, high availability, and large-scale architecture design.

- Represent the voice of the customer back to Aurora, RDS, and DMS service teams, influencing roadmap and closing capability gaps.

- Partner with service Engineering Leaders, GTM leadership, TFCs, and regional SA leaders to align specialist investment to customer need and business priority.

- Build scalable mechanisms (reusable content, enablement, tooling, and repeatable engagement models) that multiply your team's impact across the field.

- Set and raise the technical bar, fostering a culture of technical excellence, customer obsession, and operational rigor.

Basic qualifications

- 5+ years of management of technical, enterprise customer facing resources or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

Preferred qualifications

- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
