Amazon Private Brands (APB) is reinventing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) with AI at its core. Private Brands Central (PBC) is our PLM platform, and we are building a new generation of AI-native experiences — from Gen AI copilots that accelerate new product development to agentic workflows that automate the manual, high-dwell steps in bringing a product to market. We are seeking a talented and hands-on Software Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team building AI-powered functional modules within PBC. In this role, you will own the delivery of critical PLM capabilities end to end, set the technical direction your team builds against, and embed Gen AI and agentic solutions across sourcing, quality, sustainability, and detail-page workflows. You will partner with a leading 3P PLM software solution to build out an integrated, AI-enabled platform, and influence product owners, engineers, applied scientists, and cross-functional partners across APB as we reduce dwell time and accelerate speed to market. This role gives you the chance to shape AI systems that touch how thousands of APB products are sourced, developed, and launched.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of PBC PLM modules, including Gen AI and automation capabilities, working backwards from customer needs to define vision and architecture.
- Set the technical strategy for the team and automation to new product development workflows, identifying where they drive the highest efficiency and quality gains.
- Create, prioritize, communicate, and execute roadmaps and project plans while reporting on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to leadership.
- Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics, and build a strong team through effective hiring, coaching, and talent development.
- Partner with product, design, applied science, APB business stakeholders, and the 3P PLM vendor to define requirements and priorities, serving as the primary point of contact for project deliverables across teams.
- Propose and implement new projects and system improvements, setting clear, measurable quality goals in a data-driven way that improves performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

About the team
This team builds functional modules within the Private Brands Central Product Lifecycle Management tool to accelerate speed to market for new product development for Amazon Private Brands (APB) and reduce dwell time for specific processes — increasingly powered by Gen AI and automation. Examples include: developing an externalized module for sourcing Request For Quotations (RFQs) from APB suppliers, launching an automated process to manage sustainability and quality related claims for APB products, and automating ASIN and Detail Page creation on Amazon systems. The team is partnering with a 3P solution to build out an integrated PLM tool with an industry-leading software solution.

Basic qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
