About the role

Location: Remote (US)

Pay: $205,000–$270,000 + equity

A late-stage, venture-backed enterprise AI company needs a senior backend engineer for the services behind its AI agents. These agents talk to people in real time, so latency and reliability are the product.

What you'll do

  • Design and scale the backend for agent products

  • Work with ML and frontend engineers to bring agents into production

  • Cut latency and raise reliability on high-volume services

  • Handle large data volumes efficiently and safely

  • Share on-call for the services you own

What you bring

  • 5+ years of backend engineering

  • gRPC and REST API design

  • SQL and NoSQL schema and query tuning

  • Kubernetes, Docker and microservices on AWS, GCP or Azure

  • Experience building AI or virtual agent systems

  • BS in Computer Science

Nice to have: queues and distributed orchestration; Python with FastAPI, Flask or Django
