ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Senior SDET I on our Software Quality team, you will play a critical role in driving the quality, performance, and scalability of LVT's software products. Collaborating directly with software engineers, product managers, and fellow SDETs, you will design robust automation frameworks, elevate testing infrastructure, and champion best practices across our multi-service architecture. Your expertise will directly impact overall product stability and deployment velocity, ensuring our applications meet the highest performance and reliability standards before reaching production.

This role is based in-office out of our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, distributed automation frameworks from scratch for Web, Mobile, and API services using modern patterns.

• Integrate automated test suites directly into DevOps CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins), ensuring high-velocity, reliable feedback loops.

• Lead quality initiatives for complex, multi-service projects, providing architectural guidance and establishing rigorous code-review standards for test suites.

• Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis on intermittent distributed system failures across microservices, network configs, and cloud infrastructure.

• Design and execute performance, stress, and load testing to guarantee application resilience and peak-traffic stability.

• Build custom internal tooling, mock services, and automation dashboards to optimize developer productivity, environment orchestration, and test-data management.

• Maintain manual test strategies when full automation is not viable, ensuring comprehensive test coverage across critical user flows.

• Mentor junior-to-mid-level SDETs, raising the technical floor and fostering a culture of engineering excellence across the quality organization.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Experienced Quality Engineer: 5+ years of dedicated hands-on experience in software automation, quality engineering, and backend testing infrastructure.

• Programming Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Python or TypeScript with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, object-oriented, and reusable code.

• Automation & Framework Depth: Proven experience building modern test frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, Appium, PyTest, or Postman across web, mobile, and REST/GraphQL APIs.

• Distributed Systems Architecture: Strong understanding of microservices communication, data validation, and NoSQL/SQL database ecosystems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).

• DevOps & Cloud Ecosystems: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

• Systems Debugger: Passionate about debugging complex system issues using observability tools (ELK, Datadog, Splunk) and network protocol concepts (HTTP/S, TCP/IP).

• Security & Quality Minded: Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, automated security scanning concepts (SAST/DAST), and shift-left quality methodologies.

• Technical Leader & Mentor: Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with a track record of mentoring team members and driving quality-first development cultures.
