About the role

About the Role

Join a small engineering team building AI tools for law enforcement and the broader criminal justice system. In this high-autonomy role, you will develop secure systems that help investigators search and analyze complex evidence, supporting important public safety work.

What You'll Do

  • Build resilient, secure distributed systems for AI-powered evidence search and analysis.

  • Deploy large language models, vision models, and other machine learning systems in production settings.

  • Design retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and semantic search for unstructured evidence.

  • Build structured data systems, including query planning and semantic reasoning capabilities.

  • Work with agentic systems that can reason, plan, and take actions across investigative data.

  • Evaluate emerging AI models and infrastructure approaches, and drive projects from problem definition through delivery.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 6 years of backend engineering experience building distributed systems, including production deployment of LLMs, vision models, or other machine learning systems.

  • Proficiency in Python and multiple programming languages, potentially including JavaScript and React.

  • Experience designing RAG or similar pipelines for unstructured data, and building structured data systems with query planning, semantic modeling, or reasoning.

  • Experience working across multiple infrastructure providers, with security and resilience as core considerations.

  • A strong engineering background that includes experience in both an established organization and an early-stage startup.

  • Curiosity about AI, comfort with ambiguity, and motivation to contribute to public safety.

  • Authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range is $150,000 to $215,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
